Data Source and Calculation
The Division of Aging prints the coupon books based on the amount of available funding. Individuals make application to the Area Agencies on Aging (AAA). The AAAs have more individuals asking for booklets than is available, however, if an AAA does not use all of their booklets a redistribution is made. Each participant in the Virginia Senior Farmer's Market Nutrition Program receives a booklet. The booklets contain eight (8), $5.00 checks totaling $40.00. All of the booklets are distributed. It is in policy that no one individual may receive more than one booklet.
The Division of Aging accesses reports on the number of coupons cashed which is a direct relation to program expenditures.
