Name Date Result Note
Baseline 07-01-2024 659.0 This baseline number is significantly higher than most previous years because 3 grantees coincidentally expended the majority of their matching funds during this year, based on their project timeline, and 2 grantees exceeded the 25+ match requirement.
Short Target 2025 07-01-2025 300.0 Maintain minimum performance in recent years, which may grow increasingly difficult as we strive diversify our grantees.
Long Target 2027 07-01-2027 450.0 Improve upon our performance.

2017
2018 325 Matching funds expended on five projects (Virginia Commonwealth University, James Madison University, the disAbility Law Center of Virginia, Arc of Norther Virginia, and Virginia Hospital Research & Education Foundation) totaled $80,176.96. Dividing those matching funds by the grant/contract funds expended ($247,109.41), and multiplying the result by 1,000, yields 324.45.
2019 629 Matching funds expended on nine projects (Radford University, Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia Department of Education, James Madison University, the disAbility Law Center of Virginia, Arc of Norther Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University's Rehabilitation Research and Training Center, William and Mary University, and Virginia Hospital Research & Education Foundation) totaled $201,125.78. Dividing those matching funds by the grant/contract funds expended ($319,690.93), and multiplying the result by 1,000, yields 629.13.
2020 483 Matching funds expended on 11 projects (Arc of Virginia, Radford University, Virginia Commonwealth University (3 projects), Community Knights, James Madison University, Arc of Northern Virginia, Up Center, Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services, and William and Mary University) totaled $202,325.67. Dividing those matching funds by the grant/contract funds expended ($419,346.93), and multiplying the result by 1,000, yields $482.49.
2021 294 Matching funds expended on 13 projects (4 mini-grants for school tech support, 3 projects by VCU, College of William and Mary, Radford University, Community Knights, DCJS, Arc of Northern Virginia, Up Center) An additional 2 projects were not subject to a match (Hope House and Arc of Virginia conference presenter). The total matching funds were $101,733.46, which divided by the grant/contract funds expended ($346,467.74) and multiplied by 1,000, yields $293.63. This number is lower than previous years because (a) two large grants were terminated, resulting in fewer matching funds; and (b) some continuing grants had already expended their matching funds in previous years.
2022 659 Matching funds expended on 10 projects run by James Madison University, Radford University, Virginia Commonwealth University (2 projects), Children's Assistive Technology Service, Brain Injury Services of SWVA, Arc of Virginia, ENDependence Center of Northern Virginia, Management Support Solutions, and the disAbility Law Center of Virginia. The total matching funds were $236,674.45, which divided by the grant/contract funds expended ($359,223.64) and multiplied by 1,000, yields $658.85. This number is significantly higher than previous years due to a handful of grantees, including two universities, that were able to provide substantial matching funds.
2023 290 Matching funds expended on 11 projects run by James Madison University, Arc of Virginia (3 projects), Children's Assistive Technology Service, Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Endependence Center of Northern Virginia, Management Support Solutions, George Mason University, and Lamar Advertising. The total matching funds were $113,695.75, which divided by the grant/contract funds expended ($391,896.99) and multiplied by 1,000 yields $290.12..This number is signficantly lower than previous years due to the fact that (1) one grant project, Lamar Advertising, did not have a match requirement; (2) three grant projects with James Madison University, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Management Support Solutions provided significant match in the previous year and thus provided a lower match this year; and (3) one grant project with the Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing did not expend much funding because it is still early in the project timeline.
2024 567 Matching funds expended for 7 projects run by ENDependence Center of Northern Virginia (2 projects), Arc of Virginia (2 projects), Children's Assistive Technology Service, Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing; and George Mason University. The total matching funds were $166,359.84, which divided by the grant/contract funds expended ($293,518.28) and multiplied by 1,000 yields $567.32..This number is signficantly higher than previous years due to the fact that (1) some grantees expended the majority of their matching funds during this year, based on their project timeline, including ENDependence Center of Northern Virginia, the Arc of Virginia (1 project), and GMU; and (2) a few grantees exceeded the 25+ match requirement, including the Arc of Virginia (1 project) and VDDHH.
