Data Source and Calculation
VDOT's Construction Division (CD) collects and analyzes construction project data including compliance with the Construction Quality Improvement Program (CQIP). Effective in 2025 the calculation methodology is as follows: For each contract, it's Total CQIP Score is based only on the criteria within the specification section associated with that contract, and only criteria found to be in non-compliance of that contract are recorded. The CQIP compliance score is calculated as 1 - (number of non-compliance / Total Score) * 100. The Total Score is the equivalence of Total Question Asked in the old CQIP system and Compliant Responses equals to (Total Score - Non-Compliant Responses).
Here is the note on calculation prior to 2025: Construction Division tracks the number of CQIP quality checkpoints found to be in-compliance as a percentage of the total number of checkpoints reviewed for the period, and presents this as the reporting period’s overall CQIP score. VDOT uses CQIP information as part of the overall program of maintaining and improving the quality of construction projects. Values reported here represent year-to-date results that are updated quarterly, which will change as the year progresses.
Updates are typically available from CD mid-month after period end.
