Data Source and Calculation

Data is collected from an excel spreadsheet maintained by the Virginia Racing Commission's (VRC) Fiscal Officer. The spreadsheet audits and calculates the tax revenue to be distributed to the Commonwealth and to the localities where wagering actually takes place. These revenues are dependent upon the amounts and types of wagers placed at wagering locations in Virginia, which include Colonial Downs Racetrack and its Satellite Wagering Facilities (SWFs). The amount of tax revenue generated from Advance Deposit Account Wagering (ADW) is also calculated by an excel spreadsheet maintained by the VRC's Fiscal Officer and is added to the tax revenue generated from wagering at the racetrack and SWFs.
